DO AT HOME - DEEP CONDITIONING FOOT TREATMENT
With Summer just around the corner it's time to start to get our feet into shape for all those cute sandals we have stashed away. Here is a recipe for a deep moisturizing foot butter. This butter is great for cracked and dry skin. For an extra deep, deep moisturizing foot treatment, put this mixture on your feet before bed and then pull on a pair of socks and leave on overnight. I think a salon would charge a fortune for this service.
In a medium bowl mix together well:
2 Tablespoons Cocoa Butter
2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
1 Tablespoons grated Shea Butter
4 Tablespoons Jojoba Oil
30 drops lavender or other Essential Oil -optional
This recipe will make approximately 3 oz.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Make at Home - Hot Oil Hair Treatment
If your hair is extremely dry and damaged substitute Jojoba Oil for the Olive Oil. You can use whatever Essential Oil you like, but I used Rosemary Essential Oil because it is an excellent hair tonic, improving circulation to the scalp and is helpful for dandruff and dry scalp and hair.
In a small glass bowl heat 1 ounce of olive oil in the micro wave for 18-20 seconds. When it is cool to the touch add 30 drops of the Essential Oil.
1 oz olive oil
30 drops rosemary Essential Oil.
Apply to damp hair, wrap with a plastic bag and let sit for 30-45 minutes.
Wash hair as usual and condition.
- Gently wipe off excess dirt with a dry towel. Dirt builds up quickly on resin if it is not properly protected. Make sure most of this dirt has been wiped off before continuing to make the cleaning process easier.
- Mix 1 tablespoon liquid dish washing detergent with ½ gallon hot water in a large bowl. This simple mixture is mild enough that it will not harm the resin but will still remove dirt and grime. Just be careful that the water is not too hot or it could burn you.
- Use a sponge to apply the soapy water to the resin. Dip the sponge into the water and then ring out so the sponge is wet but not dripping. Then wipe down the resin to remove any dirt, wetting the sponge as necessary.
- Rinse the resin thoroughly. Once the resin is clean, rinse it with plain water. This will remove any excess soap which will create a film if is not properly cleaned off.
- Wipe dry with a towel. Once soap has been removed, take a dry soft towel and wipe the resin until it is dry. This will help prevent dirt from building back up immediately after cleaning.
There are certain essential oils that work wonders for acne prone, oily and problem skin.
Eucalyptus and Spearmint Essential Oil are two of those.
Eucalyptus Essential Oil is often applied topically to treat skin infections. Eucalyptus essential oil is a good antiseptic owing to its germicidal properties.
Spearmint Essential Oil has a cooling effect on the skin which reduces redness and relaxes the muscles.
I do not recommend using any Essential Oil undiluted on your skin. Essential Oils are a highly concentrated oil and are to be used very diluted in a carrier oil or soap.
What is Shea Butter good for anyway?
Shea Butter comes from the nut of a fruit from the karate tree that is common to West Africa. It is effective for cell regeneration and capillary circulation. That's why most all of the soaps I make will contain Shea Butter.
